Hope you all are having a great year!  This is to remind you that the semi-annual certification forms are due at the end of the semester.  They need to be sent to me via email signed by the Title I teacher and the superintendent.  Thank you!

The newsletters are being uploaded to this site.  These can be sent in your own newsletters.

The Spring Title I meeting will be on April 2, 2015.  It will be up on ODIE soon so that you can register.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas filled with the joy of family and friends.

Just a friendly reminder to get your time and effort logs and semi-annual certifications finished for the 1st semester and scanned and emailed to me.  There are a couple of you that are completing this monthly.  I really appreciate that and I think it is easier for you if you have to do a time and effort log.  Thanks and Happy New Year!

The fall meeting is up on ODIE and will be held October 24 from 9-2.  Lunch will be delivered and paid for by the individual as we have done in the past.  We will go over Title I rules and regs and then a training on DIBELS DEEP, a diagnostic assessment for struggling readers, will be held.  Each school will recieve a DIBELS DEEP kit to take back with you.  This diagnostic can be used without having DIBELS Next as your screener.  AIMSWeb schools will also be able to use this assessment.  Hope to see you the 24th.

The date has been set; April 24th a Tuesday.  This will start at 9 and end around 2.  We will order in lunch as before.  You will need to register on ODIE but it won't be up yet as Jody is out of the office for a week.  I will let you know when we get it up on ODIE.  If you haven't emailed/mailed me the items per my request in the previous post, they will be due that day, the 24th.

Thanks to all of you who have already sent me the items I need as it is very important that I have all documentation necessary for this monitoring visit.  Thanks again and keep that documentation coming if you haven't already:)

As mentioned in the previous article I will be needing some items from each of you.  That alone is new, we used to be able to provide a sample of each item of documentation needed NOW we have to have it from each school.  Following is the list of what I need:
1.  Your school or district parent involvement policy
2.  Your annual parent meeting agendas, minutes, or sign-in sheets
3.  Your parent-school compacts
4.  Notification provided to parents that they can request information regarding the professional qualifications of the students' teachers.

You may either email me these or mail a hard copy.  I need these as soon as you have time.  Number 4 item is one that you may have to inquire about.  If you can't find this with your administrator then I can give you a sample.

Thanks for your help in this process.  Susan

After much discussion with Susan Ebbers and her publishing crew it was discovered that you cannot print from the cd provided in the book I bought you for the Fall Title I Meeting.  I am so sorry.  I let someone borrow my student book to make copies and I told the company that is what I was doing.  I forgot to whom I checked the book.  So if you have it let me know and I will pass it around to those interested.

Esu 10 is having their NCLB Monitoring visit in May.  I will be asking you for forms and maybe for the opportunity to visit your school.  NDE is becoming much more strict on the required documentaion thus I will have to be also.  More to come!

If you are having your peer review in April please let me know if I can be of assistance.  Targeted schools remember your self-review using the rubric.

Haven't decided when to schedule the Spring Meeting.  If you have preferences for the time or the topic let me know by email.  Thanks Susan

There were a couple of you who expressed concern about the new schoolwide process in your evaluation of the Title I Fall Meeting.  I would love to make a school visit to assist you more with this.  I know several of you are new and if you just call or email me I can set up a time to meet with you for ANY assistance you may need.
One of you also expressed that you are required to talk about kids of poverty to your parents and/or staff.  I have some materials that you would be more than welcome to use for this purpose.  I am at your disposal all you have to do is ask.  It was good to see all of you and if I don't see you until next year I wish you a most restful holiday.

For those that are schoolwide and will be participating in the peer review process in the next few years (all of you schoolwide projects) they will be going digital.  We discussed this at our Title I Spring Meeting.  They plan on sharing a template with us soon.  This will really save on paper and postage!  I will share more details as they become available.

The review went well and I wrote a couple of ideas down that I gleaned from the process.  These are just ideas that you can incorporate into your plans or just ignore.

  • include pictures of Title I room and steering committee at work to include at the beginning of each section
  • abstract was divided into these topics:  instructional focus, parental involvement, transition, communication and demographics
  • sticky notes with the rubric section numbers on the pages that provided documentation for that section of rubric
  • the compact was on a 3 column brochure (one for student, caring adult, and teacher)
  • The coordination and integration of services section of rubric is a tough one to document.  One notebook had a chart that looked like the following:

IDENTIFIED NEED

STRATEGY

STAFF/RESOURCES

BUDGET SOURCE

Academic Support

after school BURST program

Teen volunteers and Title teacher

Kiwanis, YMCA, Title I

Parent Engagement

Social Emotional Health

Professional Development

Support Hope and Engagement

Just some ideas as you work on your Title I Schoolwide Plans for the coming year.
